Nail Biter

Google Images continues its magic streak. This came from "tell me shake".  I was looking for something more like this:
Anyway.

So the grade became visible at midnight. I got an 87.5 at first, then saw that one of the questions hadn't given me the credit I should have gotten, so I ended up with an 89.1. I needed an 89.667 to guarantee an A.

I'm 0.567 points shy of an A at this point.

But then the professor announced something about getting ONE extra credit point for turning in assignments on time? So...I might be 0.443 above an A? I emailed the prof about it, and she said I'd know by the end of the day what my unofficial grade is.

I'm dying here. I know it's only an A- if I don't get that extra point, but dammit...I took 6 classes in the last 12 weeks, worked full time, put in over 80 hours of PT observation, and got A's in 5 classes. An A- isn't the end of the world, but it just looks so much more impressive if I get straight A's.

UPDATE: Long story short, after some minor drama about being 0.01 points shy of an A, I politely pointed out a couple of rounding errors and she gave me the A. :-)

In other news, I have to teach spin again tonight at 6:45 and I'm thinking  about just going early and taking the strength class before it at 5:45. I realized last night how much I miss going right from work and just working my butt off until I'm too tired to move.

I also realized last night that I'm doing ok. Bear with me on here, we're going down the rabbit hole a little.

I know everyone has a fear of public speaking to some degree, and that's not something from which I am exempt. However, my fear of public stupidity FAR outweighs the general fear of talking to a group of people. The major source of anxiety for me when getting up in front of a group and doing something I haven't done before is fear of fraud - that everyone in the audience will suddenly realize I don't know what the heck I'm doing and either laugh or (worse) drop and shake their heads and leave, never to trust me or my judgement again.

Yes, seriously.

The funny thing is, I screw up in class all the time. I flub wording and mix up exercises and forget stuff completely, and in the end...no one walks out. No one laughs unless I make it funny, and there's yet to be a class that I didn't get some kind of thanks at the end. It turns out, I'm actually pretty good at this. I still don't know 100% what I'm doing, but I'm having fun and I'm becoming comfortable in my own skin a little more each day, and that rocks.

And on that note, Rose, this one's for you:
Between workouts, in the bathroom, sweaty and happy. Enjoy. :-D

Quick Rehash

Overall, a good night. I completed everything I set out to do, and then some.

Strength class: check
Pilates: check
Watch Biggest Loser on the treadmill: check - ran/walked 5.1 miles in about 57 minutes. Boom.
Situps max out: check...but after pilates/strength/running, so I ended up at about 25 and just felt miserable so I stopped.
Dips max out: check. While waiting for something to get done at work, I did 32. Not great, but you have no idea how much my arms hate me right now.
Squats max out: not check. Oh sweet baby jeebus not check. I can barely walk right now. I think I've done about 400 squats in the past 24 hours...does that count? I think I'll start the squats thing next week.  Oy.

Funny thing is, I'm not really tired...just sore beyond all reason. I drove home thinking "maybe I'll pop in one of the new BL DVDs I just got.

Did I not mention that I'm a BL junkie?  Guess what. I am.

Then I got home and went to get out of the car and nearly decided to sleep in the driveway, to avoid the walk to the house (10 feet and 2 stairs). Tomorrow may be an easy day.

Also, I won't lie...those A&P flashcards have me a little spooked about the class...but it doesn't start until June, so I've got a little time to make my preemptive strike.

In any case, bed time. Tomorrow morning is another pushups day (whimper) and the first day of dips, situps, and maybe squats. We'll see.

What'd you do today?

Warm Fuzzies

This morning I woke up with what, truth be told, I knew I was going to wake up with...a mild but annoying head cold.  Blech.  You know the kind...scratchy throat and bubbly nose, not quite sick enough to call in a sick day, but sick enough that if you have the choice you'd wallow in self pity on the couch?  Yeah, that's the one.

Fortunately, I love my (night) job, so I used this morning's ride to practice what I preach, which is along the lines of "if you're up to it, working out while mildly sick is ok, so long as you don't overdo it".  I barely had any resistance on, and I kept the workout strictly aerobic.  You know what? No regrets.  I won't claim that it necessarily made me feel better (the shower after sure did though), but I'm glad I went.  It was a good class.

I always love getting feedback, positive or negative, and today was no exception.  One of the women I've seen in class before (hi M!) went out of her way to tell me that it was one of the best workouts she's had in a while.  What a compliment!  I love having this particular woman in class...she's always smiling and working hard, and I love that kind of disposition.  Unfortunately, this is the last Saturday morning I'm scheduled to teach until autumn, so...boo to that.

On that note, I added a calendar gadget to the sidebar, so if you want to catch any of my classes ever, you can see when they're happening.  If you're interested in attending but aren't a member of Executive, drop me a line (or leave a comment and I'll get back to you) and I'll get you set up with a guest pass.  Keep an eye on that calendar too...soon I'll be teaching the bootcamp/strength classes as well!

Sadly, my iPod re-synced before I could capture the glory of the playlist that ran through Wednesday, but just imagine some Backstreet Boys in the mix and you get the picture.  Overall, I really liked this morning's playlist.  Very poppy, but that's my style anyway.  :-)

On another note, I'm looking at taking A&P I&II over the summer so I can get myself at least somewhat in gear to become a certified Personal Trainer come September (when there's a crash course weekend in my town).  Any advice on how not to die taking that much anatomy in 8 weeks?  Blech.
